What is Activator Methods Chiropractic Technique?

Activator Methods chiropractic technique was developed in the late 1960’s and in the past 40 + years has grown to be the most widely used “low-force” technique in chiropractic. This specific system of adjusting has been developed with the ability to restore proper spinal balance and to do it with improved safety and comfort.

How Does the Activator Adjusting Instrument Work?

The hand held Activator instrument has been specially designed to deliver a controlled, light and fast thrust without undue strain to the patient. The thrust delivered by the instrument is so quick that it accelerates ahead of the body’s own tendency to tighten up and resist the thrust of an adjustment. Because of the accuracy and controlled light force, Activator Methods adjustments are suitable and comfortable for all types of patients, ranging from pregnant women, babies and children, to athletes and senior citizens.

What is the Doctor doing when I am First Examined on the Adjusting Table?

Your Doctor of Chiropractic is using a testing procedure which utilizes a system of body mechanics, neurological reflexes and leg length testing to check your overall spinal balance and help locate the misalignments in your spinal column. These vertebral misalignments may be the source of irritation to your nervous system causing pain and problems in your body.

Can Chiropractic Help Me?

Some people have the misconception that chiropractic care is only good for low back pain, “slipped discs”, stiff neck, sciatica, whiplash and other spinal related problems. While it is true that anyone suffering from these or similar problems should try chiropractic care first, it is not generally known that chiropractic is able to assist in correcting and stabilizing many other problems of bodily dysfunction.

How Long Will it Take to Get Well?

Chiropractic philosophy teaches that you should always endeavor to correct the basic cause of a problem rather than try to remove a symptom. The length of time on the road to wellness depends on factors such as following your doctor’s treatment recommendations, your living habits, nutritional habits and the severity and duration of the problem. Your Doctor of Chiropractic will design a personal program which will help you in the shortest amount of time possible.

Will I be Permanently Well or Will This Condition Ever Recur?

There are not set guarantees in life, and many events occur which upset the delicate balance of wellness. For example: Trauma such as car accidents, falls, jolts, strains, etc. Psychological distress such as fear, stress, emotional upset, etc. Life style choices such as improper diet, exercise, sleep, work, etc. Since we are all prone to many of the above stresses there is no assurance that we will not get sick as we go through life. Therefore it is wise to visit your chiropractor periodically in order to maintain proper spinal function. The end result is a healthier you.

Is Chiropractic for Everyone?

Your Doctor of Chiropractic is specifically trained in chiropractic health care. Upon consultation and examination, if your Chiropractor determines that you do not have a chiropractic condition your doctor will refer you to the appropriate healthcare professional. Please feel free to ask any questions or express any concerns you may have as your chiropractor is committed to your health.
